An amnesty for the detachables

Everything should be detachable, compartmentalized, (user) replaceable, modular. Like the medium format cameras. Swap the viewfinder any time you want. Obviously, swap the lens. Swap the film back any time you want, in the middle of the shooting. Want a digital back? Just put it on. No problems. A 50 year old camera shooting 40MP stills. Why not attach a digital video back? Maybe some day you'll be able to, when the media and the processors catch up in the speed/size departments. But this shouldn't be limited to cameras. EVERYTHING should be such, as much as possible. Headphone cable broke? Just replace it, keep the headphone. Hear that Ultrasone? Now you do, but where were you before with the HFI 650? Usb cable breaks, swap it for a different one. Hear me MS? Have to tame my 4000 ergonomic every half hour or so. Compartmentalize. Modularize. Universalize.
